Project Details
Description
For several years, special attention has been paid to detectable viremias in people living with HIV who are on antiretroviral therapy. These viremias can increase the risk of virological failure and negatively affect patients’ quality of life. Reasons for virological failure include multiple factors such as poor adherence to antiretroviral therapy, neurological disorders, biopsychosocial influences, barriers to accessing health services and medications, polypharmacy, and adverse reactions.
Objective
To characterize detectable viremias in the population enrolled in the HIV Special Program at Hospital Universitario Mederi – Barrios Unidos in Bogotá, Colombia
Key findings
This study will explore the specific characteristics of therapeutic failures and treatment barriers, such as suboptimal adherence or difficulties in accessing medications and healthcare services. This information will provide a better understanding of the factors influencing virologic control in patients enrolled in the program
and generate relevant local data to optimize HIV management within the context of the Mederi University Hospital and similar settings
