Clinical and Histopathological Characterization of Patients Diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in the Gynecologic Oncology Service at Hospital Universitario Mayor Méderi

Project Details

Description

Introduction: Ovarian cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide. In South America, Colombia, together with Argentina and Peru, presents an intermediate incidence and mortality rate, with an incidence of 2.253 cases and 1.445 deaths in 2022, the main risk factors include genetic and non-genetic
aspects. Women with a family history of cancer are at increased risk, especially if they carry mutations in the BRCA1/2 genes. Identification of key clinical and histopathological factors can help improve diagnostic and treatment guidelines.
