Description
Inflammatory myopathies, also known as myositis, are a heterogeneous group of autoimmune disorders with mixed clinical and paraclinical manifestations, which dictate a varied course and prognosis depending on specific clinical and serological risk characteristics.
Objective
Describe the clinical, serological and treatment profile of patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy in Bogotá, Colombia
Key findings
A predominance of the female sex is expected, with an average age of 60 years. The most common myopathies expected are dermatomyositis, polymyositis and non-specific inflammatory myopathy. Comorbidity with other autoimmune diseases is expected to be less than 10% and with other diseases up to 50%. With a high frequency of muscular involvement, moderate frequency of skin involvement and low degree of lung involvement. Myositis-associated or specific autoantibodies present in most extended myopathy panels.
