Description
Introduction: Dysphagia and malnutrition are geriatric syndromes that increase in frequency with aging and have been
associated with adverse health outcomes.
Methodology: Descriptive observational study. The population of nonagenarians will be characterized, focusing on the
diagnosis of dysphagia and the nutritional needs of patients hospitalized at Méderi between 2022 and 2024. The clinical
characteristics of the study population and the clinical interventions performed will also be examined. Information will be
primarily obtained from the institutional AGING registry (Comprehensive Geriatric Care Registry at Méderi), complemented
by a review of medical records for nutrition and speech therapy variables.

Objective
To determine the proportion of nonagenarian patients with dysphagia and/or malnutrition hospitalized by the
geriatrics service of a high-complexity hospital.

Key findings
The results will allow the analysis of the presentation of dysphagia, malnutrition, and clinical outcomes such
as hospital stay and complications, contributing to the understanding of the diagnosis and management of these conditions
in the nonagenarian population
