Project Details
Description
Introduction: The variability in the genetic factors of the host against SARS-CoV-2 infection has not been explored in our population. These factors are considered critical in the clinical evolution of COVID-19. Objective: This project seeks to evaluate the association of polymorphisms in susceptibility genes and ancestry markers with the severity of COVID-19 and the presence of sequelae in the Colombian population. Methodology: Using next-generation sequencing (NGS), genotyping of patients with different degrees of severity of COVID-19 will be performed. The genetic and non-genetic information obtained will allow the construction of a risk assessment model. Expected results: The study will allow analyzing the association of the polymorphisms evaluated with SARS-CoV-2 infection in the Colombian population, contributing to the understanding of the role of host genetics in the course of the disease. Likewise, these results will allow the construction of a predictive model of potential clinical utility.
