Measurement of Affective Learning Outcomes and Satisfaction in the First Datathon Colombia 2025 and the First Introductory Course on Data Management

Project Details

Description

Introduction: The Datathon Colombia is a data science initiative aimed at promoting the resolution of public health problems through the analysis of open data. In its first edition, participants received a short introductory course on fundamental concepts prior to the event. Evaluating their learning experience is essential to optimize future editions.
Methodology: A descriptive observational study will be conducted. The study population will consist of participants who attended both the introductory course and Datathon Colombia 2025. Self-administered surveys will be designed using REDCap, including students' demographic characteristics, the e-learning scale to assess perceptions of the virtual learning environment, and the AFS scale to evaluate learning, training, and satisfaction domains.

Objective

To describe the learning experience and satisfaction of the first participants of Datathon Colombia who completed a short preparatory course prior to the competition, using the e-learning and AFS scales.

Key findings

Positive levels of educational experience and areas for improvement in the course design are expected to be identified. The findings will serve as input to strengthen pedagogical quality in future editions of the Datathon and similar initiatives
