Microbiological Findings in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Cholecystostomy: An International Multicenter Study

Project Details

Description

Acute cholecystitis is a frequent complication of cholelithiasis; an increase in the incidence of the disease has been seen in the last 3 decades. With the increase in life expectancy and management of chronic pathologies, there is an increase in the number of patients who present cholecystitis but due to high surgical and anesthetic risk are not amenable to surgical management with laparoscopic cholecystectomy and require percutaneous cholecystostomy to manage the inflammatory process. gallbladder.

Objective

To describe the microbiological findings of patients who underwent percutaneous cholecystostomy.

Key findings

To establish a microbiological profile in bile cultures of patients undergoing percutaneous cholecystostomy, and compare the results from centers in Colombia and Italy.
