Prescription Patterns of Direct-Acting Oral Anticoagulants at a High-Complexity Hospital in Bogotá, Colombia

Project Details

Description

Vascular diseases stand as the third leading cause of cardiovascular death globally. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) emerge as a suitable therapeutic option in cardiovascular diseases such as non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and venous thromboembolism (VTE) with recognized clinical and epidemiological impact.

Objective

To describe the patterns of prescription of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in adult patients treated at Méderi University Hospital

Key findings

We aim to describe the use of direct oral medications in a high complexity hospital based on updated clinical practice guidelines and to introduce strategies for the proper prescription, follow-up, control, and surveillance of DOACs.
