Project Details
Description
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic condition characterised by structural and inflammatory changes in the airways, leading to airflow restriction. The primary phenotype of the disease results from the interaction of various factors, with active smoking being the most impactful. However, not all smokers develop COPD, suggesting that other intrinsic and extrinsic factors play a significant role in the development of the disease.
Objective
To implement a registry of patients with acute exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) treated at the Hospital Universitario Mayor – Méderi.
Key findings
This initiative aims to establish a registry of patients with acute exacerbation of COPD at the Hospital Universitario Mayor – Méderi. This tool will enhance understanding of the local disease burden, as well as the specific characteristics, challenges, and needs of this population. It is expected that the registry will also serve as a robust platform for institutional research, grounded in a more comprehensive understanding of the COPD population at Méderi.
