Project Details
Description
Despite significant advances in detection, diagnosis, and treatment, tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the most challenging epidemics faced by modern society. Additionally, the current issue of multidrug-resistant M. tuberculosis strains must be addressed, involving both intrinsic mechanisms (such as mycolic acid) and acquired mechanisms (such as chromosomal mutations). For this reason, it is essential to emphasise the importance of preventive measures, including vaccination, strict adherence to treatment to prevent the development of resistance, community education on tuberculosis, and the implementation of safety protocols for laboratory workers.
Objective
To implement a registry of patients with pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis treated at the Hospital Universitario Mayor – Méderi.
Key findings
The implementation of a registry for patients with pulmonary and extrapulmonary TB at the Hospital Universitario Mayor – Méderi represents a significant opportunity to contribute to knowledge on disease control and document treatment outcomes. This registry will serve as an important tool for research.
