Surgery pelvic floor registry - SUPER

Project Details

Description

Although pelvic floor dysfunctions can be managed conservatively through pelvic floor rehabilitation and the use of intravaginal pessaries, these methods do not definitively correct the underlying anatomical defects, and evidence of their effectiveness is limited to short-term outcomes. Therefore, surgical correction ultimately becomes necessary. Given the high prevalence of pelvic floor disorders requiring operative treatment, it is highly valuable to maintain a registry of patients undergoing surgery to characterize our population and, in future studies, to evaluate the results of these interventions.

Objective

To implement an institutional registry of patients seen by the Gynecology–Pelvic Floor services at Hospital Universitario Mayor–Méderi and Hospital Universitario Barrios Unidos.

Key findings

The registry is intended to serve as a resource for the development of new institutional research protocols in gynecology. Currently, the Gynecology Department maintains an administrative database of operated patients and their clinical course. However, the proposed implementation of a dedicated registry will provide standardized, up-to-date information.
