Abstract
Aortic dissection is a potentially fatal disorder, and its mortality increases from 1% to 2% for every hour of diagnostic delay during the first 48 hours. Most patients present with an acute chest pain syndrome. However, approximately 30% have some atypical presentation. A case is reported on a 78-year-old patient with persistent loss of consciousness due to aortic dissection affecting the outflow of supra-aortal arteries. A case is presented of aortic dissection diagnosed by bedside ultrasound including transcranial doppler.
