Abstract

Intestinal pneumatosis is defined as the presence of gas within the intestinal wall. Its pathogenesis is not fully understood; it is idiopathic in 15% of cases and a secondary manifestation of gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal diseases in 85% of cases. In secondary cases, there is a wide range of etiologies, and treatment should be directed at the primary disease. Pneumatosis can present with pneumoperitoneum and does not necessarily require surgical management. This report presents the clinical case of a middleaged male patient with abdominal pain, endoscopic and imaging findings of intestinal pneumatosis, and lesions consistent with colorectal lymphoma. Additionally, a literature review on this condition is provided.
