Abstract
Modern society faces a variety of situations that threaten both the physical and mental integrity of its component groups, such as armed confrontations, murders, rapes, natural desasters, etc, which sometimes provoke diverse clinical responses and specific disorders. One such disorder is post-traumatic stress, which has a harmful effect on health and quality of life. The present article reviews the conceptual foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine and subsequently provides an interpretation of these disorders, based on the theoretical principles of this therapeutic modality, with a view to presenting the possible benefits of a responsible approach using this complex medical system.
