Descripción
Decision-making related to suspending or not starting treatments in elderly people who consult emergencies is increasingly frequent and represents a challenge in clinical practice; Because determinations are made as a priority and in many cases with limited information. Some of the factors that increase the complexity of this decision are related to the lack of prognostic evaluation tools of the patient who enters the emergency room, deficient information that the doctor in this service has and the absence of family members to define a specific management. Therefore, they are decisions that are not only limited to the clinical field, but also have a social and economic background, which will ultimately end up playing a fundamental role in the quality of life and clinical course of the elderly.
